SASEBO Board is equipped with FPGA, developed under the commissioned project of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The purpose of this project is to standardize the testing requirements of cryptographic module. SASEBO Board are developed by National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, an independent administrative institution, and Tohoku University.
The Board has been used for various evaluation experiments of side-channel attacks at domestic and overseas research institutions.
[General Features]
There are three types of SASEBO Boards: 'SASEBO-G' equipped with Xilinx FPGA, 'SASEBO-B' equipped with Altera FPGA, and 'SASEBO-W' specializing in IC card.
SASEBO-G and SASEBO-B use linear regulator power supplies to monitor detailed power waveforms in cryptographic circuits while both are not mounted with decoupling capacitors for cryptographic FPGA.
The substrate layout is designed to minimize noise. The power supply wiring patterns of the 2 FPGAs are completely isolated to avoid interference from power consumption.
Moreover, SMA connectors and shunt resistors are mounted to monitor the power waveforms on the FPGAs' VDD and GND lines respectively.
