Description

SASEBO Board is equipped with FPGA, developed under the commissioned project of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The purpose of this project is to standardize the testing requirements of cryptographic module. SASEBO Board are developed by National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, an independent administrative institution, and Tohoku University.
The Board has been used for various evaluation experiments of side-channel attacks at domestic and overseas research institutions.

 

[General Features]

SASEBO series have 5 types of boards. In addition to evaluating side-channel attacks against cryptographic hardware with FPGA, they are capable of evaluating those attacks against cryptographic software with micro processer function. 

  ・ZUIHO: Improved version of SASEBO-G and GII, equipped with Spartan-3A 700/1400FPGA of Xilinx.

  ・SASEBO-GIII: equipped with Kintex7 and Spartan-6 of Xilinx, evaluating the larger circuit board. 

  ・SASEBO-W:dedicated to IC card with FPGA. 

  ・MiMICC: developed to evaluate PUF (Physical Unclonable Function) 

  ・SASEBO-RII: Evaluation board for ASIC, not for FPGA. 

 

ZUIHO

・Equipped with 2 types of Xilinx®   FPGA   

    Cryptographic FPGA: SpartanTM -3A XC3S1400A-4FGG484C 
    Control FPGA: SpartanTM -3AN XC3S50AN-4TQG144C   

・Advanced power trace measurement of cryptographic LSI has been realized by using linear regulator instead of FPGA power-supply decoupling capacitor.

・Optimal board layout reduces noises as much as possible; 2 power supply wiring patterns on FPGA are completely separated to prevent interferences of power consumption. 

・Further, equipped with dedicated SMA connector and shunt resistor in order to measure power traces of VDD and GND of FPGA independently. 

 

SASEBO-GⅢ

・Equipped with 2 types of Xilinx®   FPGA   :

    Cryptographic FPGA: Kintex-7 XC7K160T-1FBGC
    Control FPGA: SpartanTM -6 XC6LX45-2FGG484C

MiMICC(Miniture Measurement IC Card)

・Has close dimension to ID-1 format (cash card, credit card) of ISO/IEC 7810 standards.  

・Being developed for experimentation of PUF(Physical Unclonable Function) and Electromagnetic Analysis (EMA). 

・MiMICC requires much larger power supply than general IC cards. Many of the general smartcard readers seem not to have enough power to drive MiMICC. Users are recommended to use SASEBO-W which is able to drive MiMICC. 

 

SASEBO-RⅡ

・Being developed in the CREST project to evaluate Cryptographic LSI; employs SASEBO-W or ZUIHO as control hardware. 

 

SASEBO-W

・SASEBO-W is mounted with Xilinx®   FPGA   , SpartanTM-6 XC6S LX150, and IC card socket. 

・SASEBO-W has the function of supplying power through a USB board.
